Inspired By

David Jaffe, the outspoken creator of the God of War and Twisted Metal franchises, but more importantly (at least in my opinion) Calling All Cars for PSN (PlayStation Network). His decision to leave the major retail releases and focus on the expanding downloadable casual game market caught my eye and I've been following Eat, Sleep, Play's development since.

What’s this all about?

This is an effort started in order to facilitate the creative minds of the Jacksonville gaming community. Currently the majority of video game development “hotspots” in the United States are located on the west coast. And although there are some gaming schools such as Full Sail and FIEA in southern Florida, the northern part of Florida has been left out in the cold. This is why we’ve created Tri-Something, a student run organization that is self educated and motivated to learn the tools and techniques necessary to build commercially viable video games.

When does Tri-Something meet?

The new schedule will be posted here when available, and made public on the blog.

Where are you guys located?

We are situated at Jacksonville University which resides in Jacksonville, Florida. During the summer vacation Tri-Something is on hiatus, normal functions will continue on August 28th (The start of Fall semester).

Although we are currently limited to the Jacksonville area, Tri-Something is open to the idea of aiding in the creative endeavors of any interested parties. For further information about available aid that Tri-Something can provide please contact Derrick Barra.

Why the Blog?

So far Tri-Something has been communicating through use of email, with the PowerPoint presentations that Derrick Barra has been giving the team members attached to each nights email. In order to present a less static environment for each session’s lesson the blog was constructed as an easily updatable interface to give Tri-Something members announcements along with any new lesson plans.

What’s Tri-Something currently working on?

As it stands all Tri-Something members are studying different material individually. For example Derrick Barra is learning Microsoft Project 2007.

When do you guys plan to release your first game?

Tri-Something currently does not have any plans to release a title to the public at this time.

Sounds interesting, how do I join?

Simply contact a contact Derrick Barra and give some relative information about yourself, such as relevant skills, what your aiming for in school (High School Diploma, AA, Bachelors in Computer Science, etc...), your availability, and perhaps a little bit about yourself. Tri-Something is not limited by age or gender and we’re open to any new members that want to see what this alliance is all about.
